Edward Cairns, 71, was found dead between the dock and marshland during low tide at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, near Graef Boat Yard on Longport Boulevard in Egg Harbor Township, the outlet said.
Cairns lived on his boat and was a well-known Margate-area resident for more than three decades, police said in a news release.
A preliminary investigation suggests that there "were no obvious signs of foul play," however, the investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of death, the release said.
